Does the Deli have rubber coated grippers to prevent “bite marks” on the pencil? I really wish manufacturers that do provide rubber grippers on their sharpeners would advertise this as a selling point. My poor Palomino Blackwing 602 which I sacrificed at the altar of my Carl Angel-5 sharpener looks like it is ill with chicken pox.

Kevin, the Deli does have rubber coated grippers. I know exactly what you mean. I saw the Carl Angel-5 in green for 55 RMB (less than £6, €7, $9) in a great shop in Shanghai – a shop I want to write about soon. The Carl Angel-5 looks so good and I like it even more because it has a metal body, but I had a bite mark sharpener in the past and just don’t want another one.
Claire, I got it from my father-in-law. He bought it in 1986 when the factory stopped making this specific model. This must be one of the last ones of this model and it is like new.
